ReplyWell Done as usual Howard. I would like to hear you reaction about this thought: Why is a BA wearing so many hats and why does that person have so much power and influence? perhaps its because the ABA does the real work of a BA and that allows the actual BA to get involved in things that are truly other positions responsibilities?
I received a phone call stating that the position had too much power and influence where it should not and the hiring of an interim BA to get "control" of that.... of course I do not think it is a smart way of doing so ---
your thoughts?? -

@ FLT..... well, we are in the world of academia, private contracts and why is having child not a reason to use sick days? , then personal, then whatever else she has accrued per her contract. She is not abusing anything--- I think we need to back off of employees personal decisions, we do not own them.

Hi Sophia--
The superintendent recommends positions, decisions etc to the Board. They will make the final approval. It is rare, but sometimes its not approved by the board or is tabled for further discussion.
What the issue here is whether we need another Interim when in fact we have ABA that could assume critical duties, be promoted with a stipend to Interim BA. Other critical duties (that are not typical BA duties) can be assumed by other positions (grants, board secretary, etc) . A BA is required by the state, there is no negotiation about that. -

Reply@FLT, no, no person should ask Cheryl why. Its her personal decision. That is not an issue if she has the time and policy permits it.
But by all means go and as the BOE and Administration why they are not requiring the ABA to step up with a stipend......or why they are going to such an expense to pacify the ABA......that is the issue!

You know I don't yell 'fire' under any circumstances. The actions supporting this is what is driving it. I know where that came from and I did text you as to where I heard it. I will not post that here due to the wrath the may receive from the current administration and board.
And with all due respect, I hope your fervent,
quest for a better SD is not being harnessed and contained very carefully by seated Board members! I would miss that Howard Pearl! ;-) -

there is a BA, and ABA, two clerks and a secretary in that department--- it is ALL computer base software and there is no need to be that padded, that over staffed, never mind adding a substantial interim salary.......approximately a half million dollars in salary alone for a business department..... expanding the job responsibilities and reducing FTE is required!
