Antonella, the so-called mayor and council raise in the town budget IS a typographical error. There was no raise; $17,000 is well below 1 percent of the entire budget. If you have $1,000 in your checkign accounting, and you are off by $10, you are off by 1 percent. Now, given that the town's budget is in the tens of millions of dollars, and there is a typo of less than 1 percent in the budget, can you really claim that the mayor and council did something egregious by not recognizing an off-number when it was brought up by a citizen at a counil meeting? If you were asked if your $1,000 checking account was off by a couple of dollars, would you be able to respond immediately if this was the first time that someone pointed it out to you, and you did not have your paperwork in front of you?
