The Bergen County Clerk’s office released final election results Wednesday from the Nov. 6 general election, and in Fort Lee’s races for seats on the Board of Education and Borough Council, there were no surprises. The unofficial results on election night, with mail-in and provisional ballots yet to be counted, showed incumbent Councilman and current Council president Joseph Cervieri as the top vote getter with 6,318. His running mate, incumbent Councilman Harvey Sohmer, received 6,271 votes. Both of those numbers were easily enough to call the race in their favor, with Republican challengers Thomas A. Voters in New Jersey on Tuesday cast their ballot for Barack Obama, giving him the state's 14 electoral votes.
Barack Obama won New Jersey’s 14 electoral votes on Tuesday, defeating Republican Mitt Romney. In the 2008 presidential election, the state voted for the Democratic candidate, and since the 1990s has voted for the overall winner of the presidential race 3 out of 5 times. Romney and Obama did not campaign aggressively in New Jersey. The state has typically been a Democratic stronghold in recent presidential elections.

After months of rumors that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie would be tapped as the GOP vice president nomineee, Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney instead chose Wisconsin Rep. Patch has created an interactive database so you can see how much your neighbors are donating to the presidential campaign—and to which candidate they’re writing their checks. We’ve included communities across New Jersey, so if you want to see what the campaign contributions in nearby towns are like, go right ahead. The information in the database was downloaded from the Federal Election Commission’s website. The data is based on quarterly reports, and is current through July. The data will be updated in mid-October.
