Fort Lee police say a Paramus man was struck by a van Sunday when he got out of his car after a minor accident with the van in an attempt to stop the driver from fleeing the scene.
A 52-year-old Fort Lee man is accused of hitting another driver with his van when the man tried to stop him from fleeing the scene of a minor crash near Lemoine Avenue, police said. Martin F. Smith of Fort Lee was driving his 1997 Ford Econoline eastbound in the right lane of Bridge Plaza South at 6:17 p.m. Sunday when he got into what police described as a “minor accident” with a vehicle driven by Christopher J. Gatley, 65, of Paramus, at the Lemoine Avenue intersection, according to Fort Lee police. After the accident, Gatley got out of his vehicle and allegedly attempted to stop Smith from leaving the scene. Police charged Joseph Dimino with aggravated assault and a litany of other charges, including violating a restraining order, after he allegedly punched Fort Lee School No. 3 principal Robert Kravitz in the head Tuesday morning outside the school.
Police have charged the ex-husband of an employee at Fort Lee School No. 3, with aggravated assault for allegedly punching the principal at the school in the head during Field Day on Tuesday morning, before following him inside the school and continuing the attack, police said. The alleged incident occurred during Field Day activities at the school so principal Robert Kravitz, teachers and students were all outside the building. Joseph Dimino, of Fort Lee, allegedly started yelling obscenities at Kravitz from a fence that divides the school property from Domino’s residence next door, according to police. Fort Lee police Saturday arrested Wilman Conde, a player for the New York Red Bulls, charging him with aggravated assault on a police officer at an apartment where officers were responding to noise complaint.
A defender for the New York Red Bulls was charged with assaulting a police officer in Fort Lee early Saturday morning after police responded to a noise complaint at a 15th Street apartment, authorities said. Fort Lee police officers arrived at the Charlton at 5:30 a.m. Saturday to find loud music coming from one of the apartments, authorities said. After opening the door, the officers were met by Fhanor Dominguez-Sanchez, the owner of the apartment, and Wilman Conde, a 29-year-old who spent years in the Colombian leagues and with the Chicago Fire of the MLS before signing with the Red Bulls in January, according to police.
