Here’s a look at just some of what’s going on in Fort Lee this week.
If your plans Monday evening included attending the Fort Lee Board of Education’s regular business meeting, you’ll want to think again. In case you missed it, school officials announced late last week that the meeting originally scheduled for Monday had been pushed back a week to Monday, July 30 at 8 p.m. in the Fort Lee High School library. School officials also announced earlier in the week that the school board meetings for the rest of the summer and continuing through September would take place in the library because air conditioning is being installed at the high school’s auditorium, where the meetings are usually held. Music, Movies “under the stars” are also on tap this week with Wednesday and Saturday evening performances and a screening of the Universal classic "Jaws" at the Fort Lee Community Center.

The board’s choices are to appoint a permanent superintendent—whether Engravalle or the one other finalist—or extend Engravalle’s interim status. At a meeting on June 11, the board announced that the search for a permanent superintendent was down to two finalists for the position. School board member and chair of the personnel committee Peter Suh said the board had interviewed one of the finalists …

The Fort Lee Board of Education Monday kicks off a busy week for the local school system with a special meeting at Fort Lee High School. During a private session, the board will discuss personnel issues and the appointment of a superintendent, and although the agenda for the public session doesn’t currently include resolutions appointing a superintendent or renewing the contracts of previously non-renewed teachers like seventh grade Language Arts teacher Christina Martelo or seventh grade Science teacher Ian Zellman, walk-in resolutions are always possible. At the BOE’s meeting last week, school board officials said the superintendent search was down to two finalists, and students and others have been speaking out at meetings since May 7 …
