Brooklyn Man Killed in Fall From Palisades Cliff

Witnesses said the man was beyond a safety barrier, according to police.

A 26-year-old Brooklyn man was found dead after witnesses say he went beyond a marked safety barrier and fell off a cliff at Rockefeller Lookout in Englewood Cliffs Saturday night, police said. Officers rushed to the scenic lookout within minutes of receiving a report that a man had fallen shortly before 9 p.m., according to Palisades Interstate Parkway Police. A search effort by Englewood Cliffs firefighters, the East Bergen Rappel Team and New York Police Department’s Aviation Unit located the man’s body directly below where he reportedly fell, police said. “He was reported to have been on the cliff edge beyond a placarded safety barrier near the middle of the lookout,” Lt. Spring Lake Man Dies In Fall From Palisades Cliff

He fell 225 feet from Rockefeller Lookout in Englewood Cliffs.

A 45-year-old Spring Lake man was killed Sunday in a 225-fall from the cliffs along the Hudson River at the Rockefeller Lookout on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Englewood Cliffs, according to police. Lt. Michael Coppola of the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police said that as of this morning the investigation has not revealed any suspicious circumstances in the death. The cause of death is being determined by the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s Office. The identity of the man has not yet been revealed by police because relatives are still being notified of his death.
