Dogs With Special Needs Find Special Friend in Fort Lee Woman

Fort Lee's Maggie Conway is devoting her time, and her heart, to help dogs with special needs.

Fort Lee's Maggie Conway has opened her heart, her home and her wallet to helping dogs with special needs. And now she's opening up her door inviting everyone to help her ensure that these special dogs continue to be provided for. Conway is calling upon friends, family and her hometown of Fort Lee to help her raise money so that rescue groups who aide these special canines can continue to help these dogs that need special care and attention, as well as a permanent home. Maggie Conway, daughter of Mike Conway, founding member of the Police Pipes and Drums of Bergen County and retired Fort Lee Detective, is hosting a fundraiser to aide Special Needs K-9 and the Mid-Atlantic Bull Dog Rescue, two charities that rescue, provide care and find …

Icebreaker Returns To Ross Dock

Police Pipes and Drums of Bergen County bring back the tradition of the Icebreaker as part of their 20th anniversary celebration.

Several hundred people gathered at Ross Dock in Fort Lee Friday to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Police Pipes and Drums of Bergen County. Pipers from as far away as Chicago; police, firemen and first responders from all over the state and beyond; friends and family came out on what can only be described as a picture-perfect day.  Kenny Perrino, band drum sgt. and detective-sgt. of the Fort Lee Police Department and Brian McKeever, band president and Hillsdale police officer, organized the three-day event that included a a welcoming party at Poitin Still in Hackensack Thursday, the Icebreaker on Friday and the pipe band concert Saturday at BergenPac.  McKeever said the band has been to events like this in bigger cities but not on …
