A Fort Lee man died in the hospital Saturday night about four-and-a-half hours after getting hit by a car while he was trying to cross Anderson Avenue between Jane Street and Catherine Street, according to authorities.
A 65-year-old Fort Lee man died Saturday night after getting hit by a car on Anderson Avenue, police said. At about 5:15 p.m. Saturday, police received calls saying a pedestrian had been struck near the exit of the Church of the Madonna. Officers from the Fort Lee Police Department’s Patrol Division and Detective Bureau responded, conducting an on-scene investigation, which concluded that Gerard A. Deangelis was hit by a 1999 Toyota Corolla while attempting to cross Anderson between Jane and Catherine Streets, police said. The 87-year-old driver was ticketed Tuesday after she ran into a woman and her three-year-old child in a crosswalk at Center Avenue and Whiteman Street, police said.
A Palisades Park woman and a three-year-old child suffered minor injuries Tuesday afternoon when they were hit by a car driven by an 87-year-old Fort Lee woman at the intersection of Center Avenue and Whiteman Street, according to police. The pedestrian and the child were in the crosswalk, crossing west on Center Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when they were both struck by a 2004 Lexus ES travelling east on Whiteman and making a left turn onto Center, police said. A Palisades Park woman who suffered minor injuries after getting hit by a car at Anderson Avenue and Main Street Wednesday evening became the 36th pedestrian struck by a vehicle in Fort Lee this year alone, police said. The 46-year-old woman was crossing Anderson from the southwest to the southeast corner “in a marked crosswalk,” according to police, when she was hit by a car traveling west on Main Street and making a left turn onto Anderson. A 92-year-old Fort Lee woman was walking in the parking lot of Whiteman Plaza when she was struck by a car Friday; she was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, authorities said.
A Fort Lee woman was hospitalized in critical condition Friday with what police described as “life-threatening injuries” after being hit by a car that was backing up in the parking lot of the Whiteman Plaza Shopping Center on Lemoine Avenue, authorities said. The latest vehicle-pedestrian accident was Friday afternoon at Anderson and Plateau Avenues.
Fort Lee police are once again urging caution after yet another pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the borough Friday afternoon. The accident, in which the pedestrian suffered only a broken ankle, and neither the driver nor the pedestrian were issued summonses, was the second time last week a driver collided with someone who was walking, the third time such an incident occurred in two weeks and the fifth time in Fort Lee since February, according to police. A seventy-year old woman was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday as she attempted to cross Fletcher Avenue towards the Linwood Plaza Mall in Fort Lee at approximately 8:37a.m., Tuesday. Kyong Clark, a Fort Lee resident, was walking within the marked crosswalk when 42-year old Peter Gallo from Englewood Cliffs hit her as he was making the left turn out of the plaza onto Fletcher Avenue heading north. An elderly Fort Lee woman was injured Monday when she was hit by an SUV backing out of a driveway on Edwin Avenue in Fort Lee, police said. Mary A. A Fort Lee woman died Sunday after being struck by a car; police say the driver is not being charged.
A Fort Lee woman died Sunday from injuries suffered after getting hit by a car while crossing Lemoine Avenue at Whiteman Street, police said. Helen Norton, 63, of Fort Lee, was struck by a 2010 Mercedes Benz driven by 66-year-old Joseph A. Dellaquila of Englewood Cliffs at about 6:15 p.m. Sunday, according to Fort Lee police. Dellaquila was traveling north on Lemoine Avenue in the left lane when he struck Norton. Anderson and Jane is not a bridge issue. We can't blame everything on the bridge. Bad driving and carelessness are the issues at hand here. We barely a month into 2013 and already there are 3 pedestrians hit and one killed in pedestrian vs car altercations. When is this going to stop? Don't blame the bridge put the blame where it belongs on carelessness and a lack of enforcement.   more ›
