New Fort Lee Art Studio Offers Instruction to Children, Adults

Cliffside Park resident opened CRE8sART Studio in Fort Lee just a couple of weeks ago and says it’s a place where students of all ages can “access the artist within.”

A new art studio on Main Street in Fort Lee is now offering classes in drawing, painting and composition to students of all ages and artistic skill levels. “My experience as an artist and teacher has given me personal knowledge about how to achieve artistic results,” says painter, instructor, co-owner and manager of CRE8sART Studio Max Khachatryan on the studio’s website. Khachatryan, who also runs an art studio in Brooklyn but lives in Cliffside Park, told Patch the Fort Lee location has only been open for a couple of weeks and called it “a great place for kids and adults to be creative.” Khachatryan starts children as young as four years old painting on plaster miniatures—some of cartoon characters—which are spray-varnished when finished…

Thanksgiving Homecoming in Historic Fort Lee

A restored "Historic Fort Lee" painting will be dedicated at the Fort Lee Public Library on Saturday at 12 p.m.

The Ortlip family of artists are among many artists who called Fort Lee their home from the 19th through the 20th century. As hard as it may seem to believe today, back in the post-Civil War era through the early part of the 20th century, Fort Lee was a resort community with lavish hotels atop the Palisades.  Here many artists ventured to capture on canvas the wonderful views of the Hudson River atop the bluffs of Fort Lee’s Palisades. Many artists associated with the famous Ashcan School of the early 20th century created their art in Fort Lee. It was a realist artistic movement made up of eight members, including John French Sloan and Edward Hopper. 'Figuring The Future' At Fort Lee Library

Artist Ken Vallario explores the connection between the scientific future and artistic past in his current exhibition.

Art enthusiasts were teleported into the future courtesy of the Fort Lee Public Library and artist Ken Vallario Thursday, when the library, which is displaying Vallario's work in its media center through the end of the month, played host to a reception for the artist. Vallario has several pieces on display at the library as part of “Figuring the Future,” a look at art in the 21st century and its connection with the human form. Although he’s from Rosendale, N.Y., Vallario held his latest exhibition in Fort Lee because his in-laws live in town and the local artists' guild invited him to join.
