The NL's Fort Lee AC defeated the AL's Fairway Market in seven.
It was a close game at the Fort Lee National Little League Field Tuesday evening, and it was fun for all. Interleague play took place as the winner of the major league championship for the National League, Fort Lee AC, took on the winner of the American League championship, Fairway Market. Morris Ginsburg’s Fort Lee AC won by a score of 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning on a steal of home. It was a fun game for all as the interleague Mayor’s Trophy game allows both sides of town to come together and for the kids to reunite with their friends. 52-year veteran of the league and legendary coach Ginsburg likes the idea of it. "It’s been going on for I’d say about six years, and it’s more exciting," he said. "We play the other towns. Just…
A school-has-ended summer story for mom's
While meeting my Fort Lee girlfriends at Joeyness the other morning, savoring every sip of their delicious coffee as we counted the hours until school ended, we tripped over each other’s words knowing we’d have no time until September to have another uninterrupted conversation. Our collective non-sequitors went from “Is Fairway Market cooking your dinner tonight?” to Fort Lee's Farmers' Market, to cookbooks, to book clubs, to children’s books that we can recite in our sleep, until we finally concluded there should be a catchy picture book dedicated to moms like us who have to grab alone moments when and where we can when school’s out. Always up for a good challenge, I present you with “If You Give a Mom a Cosmo.” So let's raise our glasses…

Here you'll find some ideas for making Dad's day special
This weekend belongs to Dad. Whether he likes to hike, walk, barbecue, eat out or just hang on the hammock, here are some ideas sure to make dad smile. Dinner for Dad Does Dad love dinner out? Here are a few great area suggestions: In Napoli, 116 Main Street, Fort Lee 201-947-2500 Always a great local choice, dad will have a hard time choosing between the double pork chops, Delmonico steak, and veal dishes. Our suggestion is to start out by ordering dad a nice cold cocktail along with the cold seafood salad appetizer and let him peruse the menu at his leisure. It does get quite crowded on Father’s Day, so call ahead for reservations. Prime & Beyond, 501 Main Street, Fort Lee 201-461-0033 If dad likes steak and has never been to Prime & …

Getting our summer on this weekend
Here we are, dear devoted readers, writing to you from the middle of a party we’re throwing on this gorgeous 3-day weekend. Excuse us if we have to get up to blend another batch of margaritas, but duty calls! Nothing was spared for this party—steaks from Fairway, corn from A&P, booze from Hudson Liquors, party people—all from Fort Lee. And there really isn’t anything quite like a “made in Fort Lee” party. Our day was packed with things to do to prepare for this party. Earlier, we stopped by Metropolitan Plant Exchange, and it was mobbed. We’re talking the black Friday of all holidays! This gorgeous weather brought everyone out, and can we blame them? Considering the long snowy winter and the long wet spring, we’re ready for some sun and …

Time to fire up the grill!
Let the countdown begin. 48 hours to the official start of our three-day weekend and the unofficial start to summer, so you know what that means, don’t you? Fire up those grills! Okay, so the weather doesn’t look promising, but a master griller doesn’t let something like a little water rain on their barbecuing. No siree. But what to grill? Read on. Fairway Market. It always comes down to Fairway, doesn’t it? But if you want great steak, chops, burgers or sausage there really isn’t any other place in town. This week the Butcher Department has some great sales. Black Angus Boneless Strip Steak is $6.99/lb; Hangar Steak (the butcher’s secret) is $5.99/lb; Flat Iron Steak is $7.99/lb; Cafasso’s Famous Hot or Sweet Italian Sausage is $1.99/lb; …
