Officials, Police Attribute Sharp Increase in Summonses to E-Tickets

Since Fort Lee police started using an e-ticketing system late last year, the number of summonses issued has increased by more than 50 percent, officials say. But pedestrian enforcement may also account for some of that increase.

The Fort Lee Police Department’s electronic ticketing (e-ticketing) system, approved by the Fort Lee Mayor and Council late last year, has made issuing tickets for traffic violations safer for police officers, faster for both officers and motorists and more efficient for the courts to process and violators to pay, as officials had hoped, they say. It has also resulted in a steep increase in the number of summonses police are issuing, according to police and borough officials, to the tune of more than 50 percent. “From what the police tell me, there’s a 57 percent increase in the number of summonses,” said Fort Lee Councilman Jan Goldberg, who, as liaison to the Fort Lee Municipal Court, was instrumental in pushing the program forward. …

E-Ticketing Program Approved for Fort Lee Police Department

A demonstration project conducted over several months revealed the system to be fast, efficient, safer for police and motorists and virtually error-free

The Fort Lee Mayor and Council approved a resolution Thursday awarding a contract to GTBM Inc. of East Rutherford that essentially clears the way for a permanent electronic ticketing system for the Fort Lee Police Department. The decision comes after testing the program over the past several months, installing e-ticket readers, software and printers in four police cars, and borough, police and municipal court officials expect the e-ticketing system to make issuing tickets for traffic violations safer for police officers, faster for both officers and motorists and more efficient for the courts to process and violators to pay. “What this does is it allows us to do everything electronically,” said Fort Lee Councilman Jan Goldberg, who was …

Police Pass State Test, Cleared to Issue E-Tickets

Borough officials say the technology has been installed in four of six cars, and that 30 to 35 violations had been issued as of Friday.

The Fort Lee Police Department has begun issuing e-tickets, having now installed e-ticket readers, software and printers in four of the six police cars it is using in a demonstration project borough and police officials hope will make issuing tickets for traffic violations safer for police officers, faster for both officers and motorists and more efficient for the courts to process and violators to pay. Fort Lee Councilman Jan Goldberg, who pushed for a resolution passed in May that cleared the way for the e-ticketing system, told Patch that the police department has successfully passed the state’s data submission test, that all necessary officer training has been completed and that the program is now live. “[Fictitious] test data is …

How convenient for the Fort Lee Police. They can incorporate this procedure along with their apparent policy of entrapment. Set people up and give out tickets. Somebody will sure make out on this.   more ›

Police Install E-Ticketing Technology In Some Cars

Fort Lee police and borough officials hope the e-ticketing system will make police work safer and issuing summonses for traffic violations more efficient

The Fort Lee Police Department has installed e-ticket readers, software and printers in the first two of six police cars it plans to use in a demonstration project borough and police officials hope will make issuing tickets for traffic violations safer for police officers, faster for both officers and motorists and more efficient for the courts to process and violators to pay. "Although there are a few other municipalities who have or are in the process of installing the system, we felt it was prudent to ensure the system will work as expected,” said Fort Lee Councilman Jan Goldberg, who was instrumental in getting a resolution passed in May that cleared the way for an electronic ticketing system for the Fort Lee Police Department. “The …
