The latest three incidents occurred Saturday, Sunday and Monday, as the latest round of toll hikes went into effect, bringing the agency’s 2012 total to 105—already more than 20 more than all of last year.
Port Authority police have charged more truck drivers with toll evasion at the George Washington Bridge so far this year than they did all of last year, as the agency continues what officials with the agency have described as a "crackdown," according to authorities. The number of drivers charged reached 104 on Sunday morning, the same day the Port Authority’s latest round of toll hikes went into effect, and climbed yet again Monday, authorities said. “Cracking down on toll evasion has been a top priority for the agency this year, and the number of arrests we have made this year are clear evidence that our efforts have been a success,” said Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman. Northjersey.com, citing a senior Port Authority official, reported Wednesday that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie recently ordered an end to the crackdown …

Fort Lee Police Chief Thomas O. Ripoli held a press conference Thursday morning to urge drivers and pedestrians to remain vigilant and follow traffic laws or face $85 fines, saying the police have been ticketing jaywalkers lately. But Sokolich said Thursday evening at the Fort Lee Mayor and Council’s regular meeting that drivers had better beware as well, saying, “There are decoy police that are out each and every day at most troubled intersections.” “You’ve been hearing about efforts here in the …

As long as they pay for municipal parking, thats ok. But as I said, the PA needs to focus on things like keeping non-resident cars off the street. I've had the same crappy 1980's Ford truck parked in front of my and neighbor's houses for weeks. They have a visitor's parking pass and they move the car about every 3 days and the town does nothing about it.   more ›
