White Christmas May Be Seen in the Region

A weak storm front expected to bring up to two inches of snow starting Monday night.

Cross your fingers. As of Sunday, weather projections indicate a storm front entering the region that could give us—gasp—a white Christmas. According to the National Weather Service, there is a 20 percent chance of snow on Tuesday, with a temperature ultimately reaching 38 degrees. Stephen Pellettiere, with Ion Weather based at the Morristown Municipal Airport, said current projections appear to have the small storm begin producing at about 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve, tapering off at the latest 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. "A little storm is passing to our south," he said. "There's a tenth of an inch of moisture, which translates to about an inch of snow." 'Tis the season for many holiday remembrances, and here in our little perch atop the Palisades in Fort Lee, one rarely heard tale comes to mind. As you go about your holiday shopping these last few days before Christmas, I hope you can take the time to relax for a moment or two in front of your fireplace if you have one, and if not, then position yourself near your TV as WPIX brings back its yearly ratings hit, “The Yule Log.”  As you relax in this cozy atmosphere, you might be compelled to think of the holiday classic A Christmas Carol. Athlete of the Week: Basketball Player Nick Gentile

Gentile has stepped up with double digit performances in every game this season.

In the season of giving, it only seems fitting to start giving away our Athlete of the Week Awards. At the end of every week, Patch will honor one student athlete who performed exceptionally well in his/her sport, while also highlighting their accomplishments. The first Athlete of the Week is sophomore guard Nick Gentile of the Fort Lee Bridgemen varsity boys' basketball team. Nick started the season last Friday with a 17-point performance on the road at Bergenfield and has continued his strong play throughout the following week. On Tuesday, Gentile added another ten points against Cliffside Park before posting a season-high 18 points Thursday night versus Ramapo.   With Fort Lee's only senior, George Padin, sidelined due to a concussion, …
