Fort Lee police charged two men with pot possession with intent to distribute after a motor vehicle stop.
Fort Lee police arrested two men Thursday in connection with an alleged marijuana sale on Route 46 in Fort Lee, authorities said. According to police, Anthony K. Fuentes, 20, and Luis A. Diaz, 24, both of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. At approximately 1 a.m., Fort Lee Emergency Services Unit Police Officer Jay Makroulakis and Patrol Officer Anthony Bozzetti stopped a Nissan Rogue with Pennsylvania plates as it pulled out of the BP Gas Station on Route 46 south, police said. Employees at Linwood Wine and Liquor in Fort Lee struggled Thursday to stop the would be robber, who police say tried to make off with several bottles of alcohol valued at about $300.
A Manhattan man was charged Thursday in connection with an alleged attempt to steal several bottles of booze from a Fort Lee liquor store, authorities said. At about 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Fort Lee police responded to a call of a shoplifting in progress at Linwood Wine and Liquor in Linwood Plaza. Store employees told police they saw Alan Mabra, 51, allegedly put “numerous bottles of liquor” in a bag and then try to leave the store, according to police. Two employees attempted to stop Mabra at the door on his way out. Mabra then allegedly tried to push his way past them as they struggled to stop him, according to police. Port Authority police arrested a Palm City, Florida man on toll evasion charges Wednesday at the George Washington Bridge because he allegedly had a missing front license plate, a bent and obscured rear plate and no E-ZPass tag, authorities said. The arrest of a Dallas man Thursday morning was the 68th of its kind this year because of a crackdown on toll evasion on the part of Port Authority police, authorities said.
A Texas man was charged Thursday in connection with an alleged attempt to evade tolls at the George Washington Bridge by defacing his license plates, authorities said. Port Authority Police Officer Jason Malice was patrolling the upper level toll plaza when at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday, when he spotted a 2003 Volvo tractor-trailer with “defaced characters” on its front and rear license plates, said Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman, who said the vehicle was registered in Texas and did not have an E-ZPass tag. A New York man allegedly assaulted a Fort Lee police officer at a gas station on Bergen Boulevard early Friday morning, becoming "enraged" after learning the station might be out of gas by the time he made it to the front of the line. Christian Cruz-Bello, 23, of East Elmhurst, NY had been waiting in line in his car at the Sunoco station on Route 1 North in Fort Lee at about 5:30 a.m. Friday. When he reached the front of the line, police told him to wait before pulling in because the station might be out of gas, police said. A Fort Lee man was charged Wednesday with threatening police officers who responded to his Hudson Terrace home after receiving noise complaints, authorities said. At about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Fort Lee police officers spoke with resident David Rosenberg, 52, whom they described as being “very belligerent” at the time, according to the Fort Lee Police Department. But after the incident was over, the same officers were called back to the same address on a second complaint of loud noise, police said.
