The Fort Lee Borough Board of Education is a member of the New Jersey School Boards Association. The nine-member school board holds regular meetings on either the first and third or second and fourth Mondays of the month at 8pm at the School No. 1 library located at 250 Hoym Street.

The Recreation Department offers an array of cultural, educational, instructional and recreational programs at the Youth Center, as well as less structured activities. Programs are seasonal, but include such diverse offerings as music, art and dance and chess, fencing, martial arts and ballet. Individual and team sports include soccer and team sports like soccer, golf and tennis. The center's schedules vary depending on age with some hours set aside for ages eight to middle school, some for high school only and open hours for ages eight to high school.
