The department operates out of four firehouses — north, south, east and west and operates with six engines, two fire trucks, one heavy rescue vehicle, one special operations unit, one support services unit, three chief vehicles, one duty officer vehicle, two support vans and six fire prevention bureau staff vehicles.
Perhaps the most recognizable facility, Engine Co. 1 is located at 146 Main St. while Ladder Co. 3 is up the road at 557 Main. Engine/Rescue Co. 2 is on Lemoine Ave. and Engine Co. 4 is on Brickerhoff.
The volunteer fire department provides fire protection to more than 30,000 Fort Lee residents in a suburban setting comprised of high-rise buildings and private homes. Fort Lee firefighters respond to an average of 1,800 incidents each year.
