Fort Lee's Joyce Brothers Dead at 85

Media personality and psychologist died of natural causes on Monday at her Fort Lee home, according to an AP report.

Famous psychologist, media personality and long-time Fort Lee resident Dr. Joyce Brothers died at the age of 85 on Monday, according to the Associated Press. Brothers died of natural causes at her long-time Fort Lee residence, the wire service reported. For much of her adult life, Brothers resided in Fort Lee with her late husband Milton, who died in 1989. The Columbia-educated psychologist received her big break in 1955 when she became the first woman to win the top prize on game show The $64,000 Question. Three years later, she revolutionized the media advice business with her own television show. Brothers later parlayed her successes by making scores of appearances on popular television shows, and hosted her own syndicated radio and …

Funerals Planned for Slain Englewood Mother, 5-year-old Daughter

Teaneck man has pleaded not guilty in the killings

Funeral services will be held Tuesday for an Englewood mother and her 5-year-old daughter who prosecutors allege were brutally murdered by the woman's boyfriend. Viewings for 41-year-old Tam Marie "Tammy" Pitts-Gaddy and her daughter, Natasia Gaddy, will begin at 9 a.m. at Community Baptist Church in Englewood, with funeral services set for 11 a.m. Michael C. Brady, of Teaneck, stabbed Pitts-Gaddy to death during an argument before smothering her young daughter, who witnessed the killing, prosecutors said. Brady and Pitts-Gaddy dated for about three years, according to authorities. Brady, 34, pleaded not guilty last week to charges including murder and weapons possession. He remained held on $2 million bail Sunday afternoon, jail records …

Fort Lee Councilman Remembers Longtime Resident, Friend

Nat Infurna died at the age of 91 in early October.

The following is the eulogy delivered by Fort Lee Councilman Joseph Cervieri last Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at the funeral of Nat Infurna, who died at the age of 91 on Oct. 2, according to a NorthJersey.com obituary. Cervieri told Patch he was friends with Infurna for about 30 years. Born June 16, 1921, and Baptized Natale Infurna, Nat’s parents brought him when they emigrated to Bensonhurst Brooklyn in the early 20th Century from Brazil. His dad was a sewing machine mechanic and his mom a pattern maker. Nat was raised in a loving family, which supported his desire to attend college.  He was a celebrated high school athlete who received four scholarship offers from several colleges, including a full basketball scholarship at Perdue in Indiana…

Whitney Houston Laid to Rest in Westfield

Procession arrived at noon Sunday for burial ceremony at Fairview Cemetery. Nearly 100 fans shouted 'We love you, Whitney' as hearse turned into the cemetery.

The vigil at Fairview Cemetery began at first light Sunday morning. There were no mourners, just reporters and photographers mingling congenially as they staked out a good spot for their reports back to the network morning shows or a position for the perfect photo of the funeral procession bringing Whitney Houston to the cemetery for her burial. Police officers arrived before daylight, at 6 a.m., to secure every possible corner of the Fairview property, from the Cranford border along Union County College to the south and E. Broad Street to the north. Dorothy C. Brennan, 98, of Fort Lee, NJ, passed away Jan. 5 at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, NJ. She was born in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, N.Y., on Dec. 22, 1913, the daughter of Dr. Clarence A. Connor and Charlotte Connor, and moved to Fort Lee when she was two months old. She was predeceased by her brother, Clarence, her husband, John Joseph Brennan, and her daughter, Carol Brennan. She is survived by her daughter Donna L. Brennan of Fort Lee. After Dorothy's husband passed away at the age of 51, Dorothy took charge of raising her daughters. She acquired a master's degree in library science from Columbia University and worked as an assistant director at the Fort Lee Library until her retirement.  She attended Holy Angels Academy in …
