Kitzer -- If I was mortally wounded, suffering horribly, especially while being caught doing aRead More sleazy chronic criminal act, I might like to have my suffering ended immediately. We could make the case that the effect of not administering "a clean finishing shot" would be cruel.

No doubt after seeing this, the River Dell HS BOE will be recommending another undeserved raise forRead More their superintendent. Shame on them for the last raise with nothing to show for it. Too bad Gov Christie hasn't been able to address some of the problems in NJ such as TOO MANY SCHOOL DISTRICTS! SCHOOL TAX INEQUITY! Congrats to the schools on the list. Cops got a chance to play with their toys. Relax people. It's not like you had to respondRead More personally. Stop saying it's a waste of money. Then money is absolutely minimal. These guys were not called away from their golf games. I would also like to compliment the responders for not accidentally killing someone. It showed professionalism and did not add to the "trend" of killing "innocent" people; which is becoming an issues to watch. The people incensed over this should focus their anger on plastic shopping bags as many others are doing over at another great Patch piece. Evil lurks at the checkout counters across America!

The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld Michigan's ban on affirmative action in college admissions.
Seamus Carty April 23, 2014 at 06:47 pm
"The goal of Affirmative was to right an over two hundred years wrong." My family did notRead More get to the US until 1948. Are we part of the two hundred years of wrong? Why should my orthopedic surgeon's kid get preferential treatment over my nephew (son of a plumber) based on the relative complexions?

Hmm--it's all about academics. That's awesome. I wonder why kids play lacrosse or volunteer atRead More church, or play an instrument. After all, you shoulndt take into account one factor other than test scores. Cool. I just happen to think that not many of you believe that's the way it works.

Dickie also can't stand not seeing his name in the paper once a week, so he'll be "for" orRead More "against" something just for the sake of issuing a press release. Sending out a camera crew to interview him just enables him further. Forty years and counting. He's the poster child for Term Limits.

the only difference I see between Codey and Christie is that one is wearing an orange cone and theRead More other one is still renting them out at will - regardless, the longer Julie Herrman remains at Rutgers, the longer Rutgers's integrity is going to be under a public cloud
Clyde Z April 23, 2014 at 07:59 am
her hiring was a joke, I mean they said they did a background check: must not have used GoogleRead More search because they've listed her troubles before her hire at Rutgers. Not to mention that she "lied" on her application. I've had co-workers fired after a month, months and in another case years after their hire due to lies on their application. Hermann's lies could/should have been cought by simple 10th grade investigation
Everyday Mathematics is just one of the programs that makes a heck of a lot of $ off of the millions of textbooks sold to schools that teach to the 'Core.' The Common Core isn't just restricting for teachers & students, it's lining people's pockets.
Tamara April 23, 2014 at 09:24 pm
The Common Core web-site is a marketing pitch for Common Core. You must look beyond that and followRead More the money for the truth. People that are pro-Common Core like to say the same things over and over like, anti-Common Core people did not read the standards. They have no proof of that but they like to say it as if it validates Common Core... I could easily say people that are pro-Common Core are clueless about the realities of Common Core and don't really get what it truly is, but does that get us closer to best serving our children? No. I do hope people are diggin into both sides, and not just the sales pitch, but really learning about this because it is too important. *****************Everything that is anti-Common Core in this string has an article with names, dates, groups that met, etc. on this Facebook Page: Northville MI Parents for Educational Excellence There is also StopCommonCoreinMichigan. I hope the pro-CC people have done their homework and truly understand what they are approving. ************The Northville Facebook page has several examples on it of anti-American and pro-socialist materials. These are in the English course. Take a look at the porno book excerpts there, as well as the Percepolis book reveiw. ****************People are busy - if people all over the country are up in arms about something - there is probably something to it - please take the time to dig in.
Tamara April 23, 2014 at 09:32 pm
Also on the Northville MI Parents for Educational Excellence page you can see links to the tests toRead More see how bias they are. Teachers will teach to the tests and if they are teaching something you don't like - too bad because it is on the test! *****There is also a link to the social studies standards. The social studies standards and science standards are liberal-bias, anti-American and actually just not accurate in a lot of cases. They tell our kids that they as citizens are meant to follow all the rules of the big bad government, for example. Things that made this country great and are still in existence, are few and far between - like the government is for the people and by the people and has limited powers... You wont find what the powers that be (follow the money) don't want the kids to learn. ******We all know what Hitler and many others have said about how to get to a nation and that is thru the kids minds... The proof is all there - please dig! Read the tests. ******We all WISH this was just "minimum standards"!
Tamara April 23, 2014 at 10:06 pm

The Pledge of Allegiance was written in August 1892 by the socialist minister Francis BellamyRead More (1855-1931). It was originally published in The Youth's Companion on September 8, 1892. Bellamy had hoped that the pledge would be used by citizens in any country. In its original form it read: "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." In 1923, the words, "the Flag of the United States of America" were added. At this time it read: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," creating the 31-word pledge we say today. Bellamy's daughter objected to this alteration. Today it reads: "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." Section 4 of the Flag Code states: The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute." The original Bellamy salute, first described in 1892 by Francis Bellamy, who authored the original Pledge, began with a military salute, and after reciting the words "to the flag," the arm was extended toward the flag. At a signal from the Principal the pupils, in ordered ranks, hands to the side, face the Flag. Another signal is given; every pupil gives the flag the military salute — right hand lifted, palm downward, to a line with the forehead and close to it. Standing thus, all repeat together, slowly, "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands; one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all." At the words, "to my Flag," the right hand is extended gracefully, palm upward, toward the Flag, and remains in this gesture till the end of the affirmation; whereupon all hands immediately drop to the side.

FOR THOSE WHO LIKE AMAZON PRIME OVER NETFLIX: Here's an interesting article from today (23 Apr 2014)Read More about how Amazon Prime just got HBO to stream at least some of its older content, plus "HBO GO," to Amazon's new Fire TV box, thereby making NetFlix upset because NetFlix (nor any other streaming service, including HULU) has never been able to get any HBO content; and so Amazon has scored a real coup! At least they are bi-partisan. An inappropriate Democratic role model last year and an inappropriateRead More Republican one this year. LOL, he's upset with the government taking 65% of his income. I guess that no one realizes that theRead More government/IRS/taxes take at least 65% of the income from "law-abiding" citizens as well.
Dennis Martinez April 22, 2014 at 07:17 am
According to the article the guy is paying $2000 a week or 65% of his income in child support.Read More $104,000 to the ex-spouse a year in child support. Child support is based upon gross income and is not tax deductible. This is a sum far in excess of what the average Joe pays and a good reason not to father kids in NJ. It sounds to me that the law is making so called law abiding citizens criminals.
Jenne April 23, 2014 at 01:05 pm
While it's pretty clear that if Ari can be adjudged $8000/month in child support payments, he ain'tRead More hurting for $300/month in monitoring fees... but for someone who really is down on their luck this would be perpetual debtor prison, as they would build up more debt faster than they could pay it off without a very good job.

I agree with B. Dub 100%! How was this kid able to scale a fence and just walk right over to theRead More plane? TSA: for all the harassing you do in the terminal...you ain't all that!! As far as the kid being a runaway..maybe he does face some serious abuse issues at home. He's damn lucky to be alive. But, I raised three boys, and a 16 year old boy can runaway for any collage of reasons. My kids never ran away but, I'm wondering if the fact that the plane was going to HAWAII has anything to do with it. It sounds a little compulsive to me. CPA need good follow up on this. Thank you lucky stars kid!
