Somehow this sentence doesn't make any sense..."Vehicles will be stopped and drivers will beRead More looking for signs of impairment due to alcohol or drugs". What's going on editors....forgot to proof read?????
Mr. Happy July 23, 2014 at 05:31 pm
Looks like MOONBEAM forgot to proof read also...
Chuck Ruff July 23, 2014 at 07:37 pm
Mr. Happy, you need to read the U.S. Constitution. You obviously have no idea what your rights are.

Doesn't the NJ National Guard already maintain such weapons systems in this area? I believe thatRead More after the Nike missile base in Franklin Lakes - Mahwah was closed in the Cold War days of 1971 that there were military tank training in this area to train for civilian riots. Anyhow it is known that something as cheap or as crude as a Molotov cocktail can stop a tank and fry the crew inside.

It is bad enough with Big Brother hiding in the shadows; but an MRAP!? We are not the city ofRead More Camden; (no offensive to the good people in Camden). We are Bergen County (are we not one of the wealthiest counties in the state and maybe the United States!?

Those of you in Northeastern Monmouth County I recommend the web site //wordontheshore.com for yourRead More local news. In the month I have been reading it, I haven't seen one article about parent-suing teenagers, celebrity tanning salons, or bimbos with the initials KK visiting the Jersey Shore. Just good local news of the two-rivers area.

Ryon Cumberbatch, 29, of Brooklyn, N.Y., has been charged with 2nd Degree Vehicular Homicide in the death of Waldwick Police Officer Christopher Goodell.

Whatever Rick. Keep drinking the kool-aid and living in your brainwashed bubble. And remember thisRead More old saying, "There is always a little fuck you in every 'whatever'.
M. Justicel July 23, 2014 at 03:10 pm
Everyone who agrees with you is normal, and anyone who disagrees is brainwashed? The guy justRead More posted some real points and that's the best you have? Didn't you just say to him, am I not allowed to have my own opinion? So in your mind no one else can have one, and if they do your the judge and jury. Again with the insults. You are pathetic!
Phil Brooks July 23, 2014 at 05:17 pm
M. Justicel, What I'm insinuating in comparing police to politicians is that it's very easy to getRead More into either line of work with the best intentions in mind then quickly get caught up in the culture that's a part of both. Just so you don't think I'm singling out pols and cops, there's a mentality in almost any job. There's a so-called "athlete's mentality" for instance. An example is this: Many of us play golf. If we have a good run of holes, we wonder when the wheels will fall off. The golfer (as opposed to the hacker) doesn't think like that. He puts the bad hole behind him and moves on to the next one while the hacker broods for a couple holes wondering what went wrong. I had a mentality in the career I worked at before I retired. I was confident in my abilities and knew when to put it on cruise control. OK, enough of that. You said you were in the military. Tell me how many officers had an "alpha male" mentality. I'd guess is was far more than a few. It comes with the rank and the uniform. Yes, I know a few police officers, active and retired. Though I like them all, there's a certain amount of alpha male there, too. Having not done it, I'm sure there's a sense of power, intimidation and entitlement when you put on the uniform, badge and gun. And, if you want a simple example of that, think of how many times you're driving down the road, even with traffic and/or close to the speed limit and you see a cop, even with his lights on and a paying customer. Do you tense up a little? Do you reach for the brake? Why does that happen? Because you're intimidated. You know it. They know it. As far as why Officer Goodell was parked there, it just so happens that (a) there's not a lot of Waldwick on 17, (b) Bergen Ave. happens to be the first of the side streets that intersect with 17 when you head south (Summit is still in Allendale), and (c) it's, as you said, a downhill section of straightaway after going over the rise, probably a couple hundred yards up the road. So, Goodell found the best place he could to hide. After all, if he's sitting out in the open, he's not going to catch anyone and it appears to me that his goal wasn't to slow people down but to apprehend them. Let's say that the unsuspecting driver has a couple hundred yards to identify and react. At 70 MPH, that's six seconds. And, as he's not going to react instantaneously, by the time he sees the unmarked car in the dark and hits the brake, he's been clocked and is a dead duck. What bothers me about this whole sordid affair was the rush to charge the truck driver with second degree murder. Yes, maybe he's at fault. But there might also be other details about the accident (did he swerve to avoid something, for instance) for which there should be enough blame to spread around--to the driver, to the officer, to a third driver, if any.

Yes, makemyday, those teens that enter unaccompanied will be easy recruits for this gang (if theyRead More aren't already members).
Mel Sharples July 19, 2014 at 07:22 am
Or those kids will pick the lettuce and grapes for minimal expense, so that you can buy cheapRead More produce. Because god knows Americans won't. They'll also likely bankroll the government programs that keep old people chugging along, in the form of sales taxes. Those are FAR more likely outcomes than them joining the same gangs they left their countries to get away from. But never let logic get in the way of a good rant, because 'Murka#1.

Mel that's an absolutely crock of shit. Barry told them come on and they came. You gotta stop takingRead More the Libbey High road every time you see some one crossing our boarder illegally. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't realize this is a scam. Uncle Same will threaten you alright,Read More but they'll do it by jamming up your mailbox with notifications that you owe them that 9 cent's and with interest and penalties you can be sure it will be more like $10.00 in the end if you don't pay it.

Hey Brooks are you running for office...get off your soapbox...all I asked was where was Bergen blvdRead More on rte 17 s...I made no conclusions or asserions...grow up!

Phil Brooks July 18, 2014 at 11:20 am
Uncle Jay, If you read my post, you would have noticed it was addressed to both you as well asRead More Linda. I'd like to think that you would have known what part was directed to you and what was directed to Linda. You made no assertions. You were just too damned lazy to find out where Bergen Ave. and Rt. 17 were while adding your incredulous question marks. So, I'll grow up just as soon as you get off your fat ass and do a Google Maps search which would have taken you maybe ten seconds. Actually, the amazing part is that you didn't even have to get off your fat ass to do that. And you still couldn't do it.

This guy really is a knucklehead! What kind of a hitman has to have the gun given to him for theRead More job? That's like hiring a truck driver who doesn't know how to back up!!Shouldn't this have told the Greek that this and only $20K for a murder, that he wasn't getting a "Quality Job"?Fortunately the guy wasn't able to pull it off and "Uncle Gus" is still able to "EAT HEAVY".He'll be out again in 8.5 yrs-NOT LONG ENUFF!!!! if he wanted to kill him, he could have just fed him some of that nice rich diner food, I guess heRead More didn't want to torture him with a slow death though, just kill him. But seriously, 10 years for plotting (premeditated) attempted murder? If this happened in Greece, they'd probably hang him.

The shooter was an ex-con. He HATED police. For some reason, he has had enough. Maybe he was drunkRead More or stoned & didn't want to go back to jail. So he grabs a security guards gun & waits for the police to arrive & opens up on them. After killing the first cop the next two cops to arrive on the scene open up on him & kill him. Police cars need bullet proof glass & steel plates put in the doors. The results from his blood test should be coming out any day now.

If you look at the people who frequent Walmart, you get a clear, pathetic, pitiful, picture of theRead More core of the problem. Severely undereducated, easily brainwash-able, very apparent lack of self value. Perfect target voter for the republiscams. Without these types, the right wingers might eke out 10 pr 20% of the vote every election. Its no wonder why the red states are the poorest educated in the country.

@MaryLynn if Walmart is such a great company, why can't THEY help their employees? I understand ifRead More there is a divorce or death etc.....but for Christmas?? Give your employees a bonus free turkey! While the Walmart CEO is being brought his dinner prepared by his staffed cook. He should maybe think of the little people who got him to where he is.

A subject in Jersey City stabbed a security guard and took the guard's handgun. When a two manRead More police car responded the subject shot and killed the officer on the passenger side and was then shot and killed by the police. The subject had claimed earlier that he would be famous. Of course the media has published his name and given him his 2 seconds of fame. So the copycats will keep on copying.

If the woman owns a gun legally she should know the laws period. Laws are the laws if we like themRead More or not. I hope they cut her a break for being honest but it is her responsibility to know the laws. Ignorance of Law is no defense in the United States.
William July 21, 2014 at 08:24 pm
Thank You jersey girl. When a person legally Buys a Gun a Responsibility and Accountability comesRead More along with it. Just as with a Drivers Lic. Even tho one is a Right and one is a Privilege. Ignorance is not Bliss. Plain and simple she broke New Jersey Law, No matter the excuse The court will decide not The Public Court of Opinions, Just because in Penn. one can walk in Buy a Gun and the law says you have a right to Carry, does not give you the same rights in any other states. And THUDNJ You really think The Federal GOV. would do a better job . IRS-VA- CIA -FBI Yea Right. And to repeat my Self To Obtain a New Jersey Firearm Purchasing Permit, Be it Pistol or Shotgun. It goes threw back Ground checks From Local Police , State Police and Federal ( FBI ) checks, So in essence She or any one from out of State should have more rights the a New Jersey Citizen. And THUDNJ it is The Federal Gov, Us Senators and Congress that are coming up with these screwy laws, So every time some one is found with a Loaded gun in their car from out of State or MEXICO where they bought it Legally Most with no Background Checks or Even a Drivers LIC. Where A Drivers LIC. will be given to the Illegals if obamanation has his way they just have to say I did not know it was Illegal I am Sorry, This whole story can go on and on with Opinions when IT IS THE LAW of New Jersey she Broke,

@F-TR - well, at least it's six of one and a half of dozen of the other even though the AmericanRead More Water Christie-style pit bull bellowing water tower will offend us 24/365 – personally, if I had to pay American Water for their service, I would enclose one canned sardine in every payment envelope [tried to use your reply button to no avail - that's a 50/50 option also]
Juliana Brady July 4, 2014 at 01:22 pm
Weekender's don't pay attention to such important things like how to get out of a rip current. EvenRead More I a strong swimmer with certifications had trouble getting out of a couple of them. I also fully knew how to handle myself and it's still a killer for those who come down here to party and then think they are jumping into a pool in the backyard. Never turn your back to the Ocean, give it the respect it deserves, and don't go in just to cool off thinking it's just a "rip current" no biggie! The Ocean will take you down in a flash.

Long Time Resident I do have to admire your intelligence. You're way ahead of me. After all youRead More speak multiple languages. I don't know what language 'libtard' is in. You can't carry on an intelligent conversation by going to the name calling bit.
Long Time Resident July 5, 2014 at 04:42 pm
Well John, I was following your lead so you must be way smarter than I since I don't know whatRead More language "FOX noose" is, so you must not be one of the English only crowd also.
