After finishing sixth grade at one of four Fort Lee area elementary schools, students come together for their seventh and eighth grade years at Lewis F. Cole Middle School. The school is located next to Sugarman Sports Complex near William Birch Park. The academic program at the middle school consists of Language Arts, World History, Pre-Algebra and Life Science for seventh graders with French or Spanish, Geography and Computer Applications offered as semester courses. Eighth graders take Language Arts, American History and Civics, Algebra, Earth Science and French or Spanish five days a week. Both grade levels participate in the Unified Arts program, which includes Music, Industrial Arts, Art or Home Economics. Highlights at the school are its Bias Busters, a student group dedicated to preventing behavioral bias among their peers and the student-produced and multi-award-winning literary magazine, "INTERMEDIA." Extra-curricular activities include Band, Chorus, Drama, Student Council and Yearbook among many others.
