Given its limited hours of operation, it may take some pre-planning, but a visit to the Fort Lee Museum is well worth the effort for history buffs or those who simply want to learn more about Fort Lee's storied past. The museum's archives contains material from the famed Riviera Nightclub, Fort Lee High School, the Fort Lee Athletic Club, the George Washington Bridge and the American Revolution among other institutions, landmarks and historic events. Located on Parker Avenue, between Monument Park and the Church of the Good Shepherd, the quaint stone building fits right into its surroundings in a particularly scenic area of downtown Fort Lee. The facility is located on the grounds of George Washington's original encampment. The museum has weekend and Wednesday evening hours only, but group tours are offered throughout the week by appointment. Special exhibits are held throughout the year.
