The park grounds span over 33-acres and command spectacular views of the George Washington Bridge, the Hudson River and the skyline of the West side of Manhattan. Visitors are welcome to stroll the grounds (sans pets and bicycles). Towards the northern end of the park, one can choose to take in the George Washington Bridge from one overlook or the skyline of upper Manhattan from the other. At the southern end, visitors can peruse reconstructed batteries and gun steps and 18th-century soldiers' and officers' huts. On a clear day, it is possible to view the mouth of the Hudson River from the south overlook of the park grounds.

Come weekends and summers, as part of an interpretive program with the Visitor's Center, staff and volunteers relive the ways of colonial life in the 18th century on the grounds. Because of their place in history, the park grounds also serve as a site of historical re-enactments of the Revoluntionary War. In addition, various recreational and cultural programs are held at the historic grounds throughout the year. Please check in with the Visitor's Center or online for the most up-to-date information on such programs.
