Fort Lee Helps Leonia Out With Rock the Kitchen
The event, featuring six local bands, will raise money for the Center for United Methodist Aid to the Community foot pantry in Paterson.
A donation from Fort Lee is helping a new fundraiser get off the ground Saturday, featuring six local bands in an all-ages benefit concert to benefit CUMAC, a food pantry in Paterson.
Organizer Liz Gardea worked with Pastor David Wehrle at the Leonia United Methodist Church to set up the free concert, where donations will be accepted, featuring music from genres from rock to jazz.
One of the keys to keeping the costs down, say volunteers, was Fort Lee's lending of a mobile stage for the event, which otherwise would have been one of the planners' greatest expenses.

"It's thousands of dollars to rent, and Fort Lee was willing to lend it out for free," said Diane Asciutto. "We've been able to keep costs at a minimum because we don't have anyone for anything."
The event, also sponsored by the Leonia municipal government and several local businesses, will held on the Leonia United Methodist Church lawn from 12-6 p.m. Saturday.
