The Fort Lee Fire Department needs dedicated men and women to help protect the lives of residents and workers in the borough. The department is all volunteer except for the fire prevention bureau. Four firehouses - north, south, east and west - cover the entire borough.

An applicant must be at least 16 years old, a resident of Fort Lee and a United States citizen. Upon acceptance, new members must complete an 18 week basic firefighter training course at the Bergen County Fire Academy. Firefighter benefits include a quarterly stipend, annual clothing allowance, life insurance, medical coverage and the satisfaction of helping your neighbors.

Membership applications may be obtained from any Fort Lee firehouse. You can also call the Fire Chief's Office Monday-Friday between 8:30am and 4:00pm or e-mail the department.
