Neighbors in Need

Local Tricky Tray aims at helping your neighbors

It's that time of year when many charities are asking for help and needing that help to fund their cause. We are no different. The Department of Human Services is quietly helping your neighbors with heat and food bills, medication bills and presents for their children during the holidays. The request is simple and humble; we need your continued help to create a successful fundraiser.

Local businesses, especially restaurants, have contributed greatly with gifts or advertisements in our journal. Citizens have been dropping off new and unused items, which several volunteers gather together to create baskets. The school system is collecting items also. They are collecting theme-based items by grade. If you cannot get out and get the requested items, putting $2-3 in an envelope and sending it in with your child will help immensely. When the money is collected, items will be purchased, and theme baskets will be created. It is a small amount of money that can be turned into a wonderful prize at the tricky Tray in January. All this sounds like a lot, but we are far from our goal of 400 prizes.

Even though the Tricky Tray is in January, we are looking to complete the school district collection by December 19th and end the ad journals by December 30th.
