Intense Baseball Clinic for Charity

Charity Baseball Clinic for all Fort Lee kids during Winter Break

During winter break, my husband and I, along with some our town’s fabulous coaches, will be holding an Intense Baseball Clinic at the Fort Lee Community Center to benefit a child in Fort Lee who is waiting for a heart transplant. One hundred percent of the money raised goes to Caring Hearts of Fort Lee and will benefit the family. We are being sponsored by the Fort Lee American Little League and hope to be able to raise some money to make a fellow Fort Lee family’s life just a bit easier.

The clinic is Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Feb. 22, 23 and 24.

We decided to do this clinic because we thought it was time to rally around our neighbors who need a little break and show that we do care, and we care a lot! Teaching youth is what we know, so this was just a natural extension of what we can do that seems to be a win-win for all the kids in the town. In addition, we get to warm-up the players for the season with some intense physical activity and intense instruction of the fundamentals of baseball (and softball!).

All Fort Lee children, ages 5-12, are welcome. We ask for a minimum $50 donation to participate in the clinic. Checks only please, payable to the Caring Hearts of Ft Lee.

The clinic focuses on fundamental baseball instruction, conditioning, drills for throwing and catching and individualized batting instruction from one of the many talented coach-volunteers. Pitching, catching, position play, game play concepts and how to be a great batter will be part of this charity clinic.

Sample Activity for the younger group: Warm up, Instructional skill-specific speech (“How to throw properly”), practice drill with individual instruction, break, game play instruction (So what does an Umpire do?), modified instructional game with position placement, dismissal.

The older group’s instruction is focused on honing skills and developing a strong working knowledge of game play. Included will be specific pitcher-catcher instruction.

Please print out the attached flyer and bring it with you to the community center at your chosen time on Wednesday. Children will need sneakers and a baseball glove or softball mitt. Please label all equipment.
