The Annual Fort Lee Battle of the HIgh School Bands Showcases Local Garage Bands

The Cleopatra Club Takes the 2013 Fort Lee Battle of the High School Bands

The Fort Lee Film Commission held its 8th annual Battle of the High School Bands at the Jack Alter Fort Lee Community Center on Friday, June 7th.  Six bands competed and a record crowd witnessed a night of great musical talent along with a spectacular light show put on by the crew of the Fort Lee Community Center.  This contest affords local high school garage bands a professional showcase to shine in front of their friends, family and community.  Christine Vitale, WFDU-FM radio DJ MC’d the event and was one of our four judges.

The winning band was The Cleopatra Club.  The bands members are from Paramus Catholic High School.  The top prize is $500 and a booking at the 2014 Fort Lee Arts & Music Fest stage.

Our Wendy's Audience Choice Award winner is Radio Activity. Band members are from Dumont High School and New Milford High School.  Radio Activity were one point behind The Cleopatra Club in the voting for the best band so they too will be invited to perform at the 2014 Fort Lee Arts & Music Fest.

The other bands in the competition that all performed spectacularly are as follows:

Vision with members from Fort Lee High School

Blind Mountain with members from Cliffside Park High School

Ninth Minute with members from Fort Lee High School, Dwight Morrow High School and New Milford High School.

Round Trip with members from Northern Valley Regional High School.

The Fort Lee Film Commission continues this tradition of "Battle of the Bands" that was a regular part of the programs on the stage of the legendary Palisades Amusement Park as produced by Cousin Brucie (Bruce Morrow).  We look forward to our 2014 competition and the chance to showcase local talent.
