Movies and Music Under the Stars Extended

The Fort Lee Film Commission is also pleased to announce that our annual Movies & Music Under the Stars will be extended through Saturday, September 10. This extension will allow us to screen the Academy Award-winning film The King's Speech. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the August 6th screening of this film due to technical difficulties.  We will also feature a live band on September 10 from 7-8:30 p.m. on the outdoor stage of the Jack Alter Fort Lee Community Center (1355 Inwood Terrace). In case of rain, both the music and the film will move to the second floor of the community center.

The local girls' band that will play that evening are The Pedal Pushers. All of the band's members are recent graduates of Fort Lee High School, and this band is a past winner of the Fort Lee Film Commission's annual Battle of the High School Bands. We hope that by showcasing this local band, we will be able to show the public the talented graduates of Fort Lee High School and hopefully thereby gain support for music, art, dance, theatre and film programs in the Fort Lee High School under the banner of the Fort Lee High School Academy for the Performing Arts.

The Fort Lee Film Commission hopes to start off this program on September 10 with a presentation of a $3,000 check from the Film Commission to the Fort Lee School Superintendent and representatives of the Fort Lee Board of Education for the Fort Lee High School Academy for the Performing Arts.

These funds are from the sponsorship money the film commission solicited for the 2011 Movies & Music Under the Stars program - all sponsors were told that their sponsorship funds would be donated to the Academy for the Performing Arts so we thank all our sponsors including Fort Lee Patch/AOL, Capital One Bank, New York Waterway, the New Jersey Education Association, the Greater Fort Lee Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Lee Suburbanite and Wendy's and Norm's Ice Cream. We also thank an anonymous donor for their generosity.
