Wildflower talk

The Garden Club of Teaneck invites the public to hear Ms. Hollace Hoffman speak about wildflowers on May 12th, Thursday, 7:30 PM at the Rodda Center (250 Colonial Ct., Teaneck, NJ) at the south end of Votee Park.

Ms Hoffman's lifelong interest in biology translated itself into a Rutgers' Master's degree in Plant Ecology, then into various posts.  She served as Director of the Trailside Nature and Science Center where she gave lectures and conducted field trips; as a Park Naturalist for the Somerset County Parks System; as President (now emeritus) of the Greater Watchung Nature Club as well as the biology teacher at Metuchen High School.

Interest in wildflowers began as early as the nineteenth century in England and was advanced by Vita Sackville-West. Increasing concern for the stewardship of the Earth has sparked a growing interest in the conservation and growth of wildflowers. Some 300 families (comprised of annuals, perennials and biennials of native, naturalized, alien, exotic and even invasive-pest) make up our wildflower heritage.
