Bergen County Shop to Appear on 'Cupcake Wars' Reality Show

Local shop served free meals after Hurricane Sandy slammed the region

Little Ferry shop “I Am Cupcakes” will appear on the season finale of the Food Network reality baking competition show “Cupcake Wars” on Saturday, according to Bergen County foodie blog BoozyBurbs.com.

The store is run by aunt and niece team Iyona and Amirh McFarlane, both Teaneck-natives. The show will air Nov. 23 at 8 p.m., the site said. A viewing party is in the works at their shop, but full details have not yet been announced.

“Cupcake Wars” pits top bakers against each other through a series of elimination rounds in a competition for the $10,000 prize.

“I Am Cupcakes” was hit with heavy flooding during Hurricane Sandy, but the duo quickly made repairs and used their space to serve free food to others in hard hit Little Ferry, BoozyBurbs.com reported. They also opened the shop for locals to charge cell phones and warm up after the storm.
