School No. 4 Turns 100 This Year, Celebration Planned for March

1975 graduate of the elementary school, Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich will be the guest of honor at a dinner dance in March celebrating the school's 100th anniversary.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of School No. 4—Fort Lee’s oldest school—and organizers are planning a series of events to celebrate the milestone. The first is a 100th anniversary dinner dance in March.

The dance will be held at the Fort Lee Double Tree Hotel on March 18, and the guest of honor will be Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich, a 1975 graduate of School No. 4.

The evening includes a four-course dinner, wine, dancing and prizes. Tickets are $40.

Proceeds from the event go to the School No. 4 PTA, which is sponsoring the event, and in addition to ticket sales, organizers are hoping to raise money by selling ad space in the dinner journal. The School No. 4 PTA plans to print 300 copies of the journal to distribute on the night of the dance and says an electronic version will be emailed and available on the School No. 4 website. Ad space is available from quarter page to full page sizes, including inside front and outside back cover and range in price from $75 to $500.

For more information on the dinner dance, which takes place March 18 at 7 p.m. at the Fort Lee Double Tree Hotel, contact Peter Mertens at (917) 848-8851 or peternmert@aol.com.
