Columbia University's Columbia Scholastic Press Association reviewed more than 1,400 submissions from across the country and identified "Intermedia" as one of the best.

An art and literary magazine produced each year at Lewis F. Your theme, development and concept are better than that of many high school magazines; your words capture the reader and guide him through the sections. Wonderful variety in types of media included. Texture is almost tactile in every flower art, and people sketches are amazingly good, usually very difficult for young artists. What a wonderful magazine with strong visual and verbal appeal for the reader. ‘Intermedia’ has intriguing writing and art which make the reader stop, think, interpret, react; everything a top-notch art/literary magazine should do.

Anderson, the art advisor to the publication, said that she and middle school media specialist Cean Spahn, the literary advisor to Intermedia, are also slated to accept a Crown Award, which Anderson called “the highest award offered by Columbia University's Scholastic Press Association.”

The two will receive the award at the 88th Spring Convention on March 16 at Columbia University.

“Only four middle school publications throughout the United States will be receiving Crown Awards for their issues,” Anderson said.
