Board Proposes Average $200 School Tax Increase With $59.2M Budget

$59.2 million budget would avert layoffs and program cuts, board says.

The Fort Lee Board of Education held its annual public budget meeting Monday, detailing the , which would raise taxes about $200 for the average homeowner but eliminate the activity fee and result in no layoffs or program cuts due to funding.

The proposed budget represents an increase of about $4 million over 2011-2012, or about 7.3 percent, is available in “user friendly” format with an overview on the Fort Lee School District’s website.

The budget talk came during the meeting Monday night in which Sharon Amato was appointed Interim Assistant Superintendent.
