Before Sandy, There Was Red Ribbon Week at Fort Lee Middle School
Fort Lee students, members of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) took part in activities around the national theme, "The Best Me is Drug Free." Those activities included the formation of a "human red ribbon."
Before Sandy wreaked havoc in Fort Lee and across the region, there was Red Ribbon Week at Lewis F. Cole Middle School.
Daily themes and activities included a “human red ribbon” formation on the middle school’s athletic field to promote Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), according to middle school SADD advisor Stefanie Yundi.
“We want our students to make the right choices as they become teenagers and not be peer pressured into drugs or alcohol,” Yundi said. “We want them to be strong individuals by making the right decisions along the way.”

Students and staff participated throughout the event and encouraged student participation. This year’s Red Ribbon Week theme throughout the country was “The Best Me is Drug Free.”
“We also decorated the trees and school with red ribbons,” Yundi said, calling the event a “huge success.”

“I am so thankful for such great colleagues who helped and participated throughout the week and for Mrs. Glynn's support,” she said.
