Report: Palisades Park Official Eyes Englewood Assemblywoman's Seat

District 37 incumbents running together, report says.

Palisades Park Deputy Mayor Jason Kim is seeking to unseat Englewood Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle, politickernj.com reports.

Faced with Kim's challenge, District 37 incumbents Senator Loretta Weinberg, Assemblyman Gordon Johnson and Vainieri Huttle announced they would run together, the report said.

"From fighting to create jobs and increase the minimum wage to protecting health care for women and children to making our schools and neighborhoods safer Loretta, Gordon and Valerie have built a record of advocacy and accomplishment across Bergen County’s 37th District," spokesman Dave Parano told the website

Teaneck community activist and former Marine Jason Castle, who challenged Deputy Mayor Adam Gussen in the democratic congressional primary, will serve as a campaign chair for the legislators, the report said. Englewood Councilman Michael Cohen will also act as a campaign chair.

Mr. Castle has been in Teaneck for less than one year. He has indeed been a community activist in Teaneck since moving, but ti call him a "long time Teaneck Community Activist" is an exaggeration. If you had voted or paid attention to last years Democratic primary, you might have noticed that he was running for the Democratic congressional nomination against Adam Gussen. He lost badly but beat Mr. Gussen in Teaneck.

Is he one of the individuals that the Record reported had pulled the "race" card on an issue at last week's Council meeting, in spite of the fact that Dr. Pruitt said the issue Castle was talking about has nothing to do with race? I seem to remember Castle saying that when I was watching on TV.

@William Mays, I think you're missing "delgado's" sarcasm and/or ham-handedness. No one who repeats the phrase "Community Activist" in virtually every sentence should be taken seriously. In actuality, “delgado” is a supporter of Bergen County's most unsavory Democrats -- some of whom have fallen from grace (e.g., Ferriero and Teaneck’s own $95k no-show patronage job holder Rudolph) and some of whom have moved on without so much as an apology for their longtime condoning of -- and benefitting from – the corruption that should have been obvious to them. He (or she) also maintains the phony Facebook accounts of "Allison Shuster Shea, "Kelly McKensy" and who-knows- how-many others. A couple weeks ago he (or she) sent me harassing private Facebook messages using the above-mentioned phony Facebook accounts. It seems he (or she) was incensed about some comments I made on NorthJersey.com – particularly one regarding Adam Gussen and the downgrading and dismissal of the official misconduct charge a judge had forwarded to the county prosecutor. (http://www.northjersey.com/hackensack/Former_Hackensack_councilwomans_harassment_complaint_is_dismissed.html?page=all). So I’m sure this was not genuine praise for Gussen’s Congressional primary opponent Mr. Castle, a newcomer who outpolled Gussen in the town where people know him best.

It's indeed curious that someone who purports to "have been fairly active in Democratic politics locally" wouldn't have heard of Democratic primary candidate Jason Castle. And by the way, whoever "Esther" is (definitely not the respected Esther who uses her full name), the picture she's uploaded is that of Rosa Parks. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://scrat.hellocoton.fr/img/classic/remembering-rosa-parks-6466094.png&imgrefurl=http://www.hellocoton.fr/remembering-rosa-parks-6466094&h=191&w=255&sz=63&tbnid=ajSIadmGQ4d5XM:&tbnh=96&tbnw=128&zoom=1&usg=__LAYyp13_EIrTy8FAkwvuB6hktNA=&docid=tBtPNI53DHl4IM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=TEEYUZ_dHPKB0QGj_4CoAg&ved=0CEIQ9QEwAg&dur=412 Kind of reminiscent of "delagado" / "Allison Shuster Shea" / "Kelly McKensy" / and "Beth Rosenberg," the pro-blue laws poster who posts on Friday nights and claims to be an Orthodox Jew living in Teaneck.

An important follow-up to this story, which I only became aware of, but happened three days ago: http://www.politickernj.com/back_room/vainieri-huttle-wont-get-convention-challenge
