Assemblywoman Joan Voss Speaks to Students at School No. 4

Voss met with fifth- and sixth-graders at the elementary school Monday morning

Assemblywoman Joan Voss (D-38), who’s also now a Freeholder-elect after last week’s general election win, visited in her hometown of Fort Lee Monday morning, speaking to a group of fifth-graders and a group of sixth-graders about the functions of government, the duties of elected officials and the importance of voting.

School No. 4 fifth grade teacher Kay Cordero said Voss spoke “mostly about how people are elected and why we need to have these people in office and what their functions are,” and that the students reacted with great interest and enthusiasm.

“They were really involved and interested in what she had to say, and on a Monday morning for fifth-graders, that’s a lot to say,” Cordero said. “[Voss] was very eloquent, and they were really responding to her very well, asking questions. They were really engaged.”
