Fort Lee To Add Second Ferry Shuttle Bus Along Anderson Avenue

Officials hope that adding a second shuttle long Anderson Avenue will help to alleviate traffic at the George Washington Bridge.

Fort Lee officials have announced that a second shuttle will be added to transport residents to the Edgewater Ferry Terminal, operated by New York Waterway. Mayor Mark Sokolich said that the additional shuttles, estimated to cost $85,000 each, are being donated to the Borough by the Port Authority in an agreement between the two entities.

The agreement was voted on and approved during last week's Mayor and Council meeting. Councilman Armand Pohan, chairman of New York Waterway, recused himself from voting.

First introduced under Mayor Jack Alter, Fort Lee residents have been enjoying free shuttle bus service along Palisade Avenue to the Edgewater Ferry terminal for years. Officials estimate that approximately 100 passengers ride the bus each weekday. In an effort to relieve the traffic flow to the George Washington Bridge, officials are pleased to offer an additional shuttle that will travel along Anderson Avenue, servicing the western portion of town.

This is a great and necessary idea to move forward. The ferry is in an excellent location, but with limited parking at the terminal, shuttles are a must to bring those commuters forward. I believe Pt Authority will have those busses paid off in revenue from the abundance of commuters choosing this option!

Fort Lee received a bus while Hoboken received a bus load of cash. Who negotiated this deal?

Why is the Mayor and the Board providing "free services" on Anderson and Palisade Avenue to the ferry, which is already available by NJ Transit ??? The more people take the free stuff, " hmm Beltway stuff " the higher the fares go for the average commuter. I took the bus to NYC for 42 years and paid every day...What is going on ??? The Mayor has no regard for the tax payers..Time for change, boot all of them
