Early Mayor and Council Meeting, Holiday Tree Lighting Thursday

Fort Lee Mayor and Council to vote on expanding Redevelopment Area 5 at an early meeting before tree lighting at the community center

The Fort Lee Mayor and Council will take up the issue of expanding Redevelopment Area 5 by about two-thirds of an acre Thursday, when the governing body meets for an early executive session in advance of the borough’s third annual holiday tree lighting.

The Council is expected to take action on a resolution determining that five parcels of land qualify as an “Area in Need of Redevelopment” in accordance with the Local Redevelopment and Housing Law after the Fort Lee Planning Board held a special public meeting on the matter on Nov. 30.

Also on the public portion of the agenda is the introduction of an accompanying ordinance amending the plan for Redevelopment Area 5 to include the properties along the north side of Main Street abutting the redevelopment area.

The executive session will begin earlier than usual—5 p.m. for the closed session; reopening to the public at about 5:30 p.m.—because Fort Lee’s holiday tree lighting ceremony is schedule to start at 7 p.m. at the .
