District 38 Legislators Supported State Budget in Favor of Education

District 38 legislators supported the state FY 2012 budget
this week in favor of putting signifcant funding back to Bergen and Passaic counties.

Assemblywoman Connie Wagner, D-Paramus stated, "Before this budget process started I made it clear to my colleagues that I would not vote for a budget which did not restore cuts to our suburban school districts. As a retired educator, I am pleased to support this budget and the millions of dollars that will come back to our districts for students."

School districts across the new 38th district will receive
$18,392,638, with Bergen and Passaic vocational schools receiving an
additional $14 million.

"Last year the governor's budget decimated school budgets across North Jersey," said State Senator Bob Gordon (D-Fair Lawn. "With this years budget we will significantly increase funding for public education, adding dollars where they are truly needed, in the classroom."

In other news regarding the District 38 legistlators, the NJ Building and Construction Trades Council recently announced they will endorse Democratic State Senator Bob Gordon and Assemblywoman Connie Wagner who are running for re-election along with Timothy Eustace, the mayor of Maywood who seeks the assembly seat.

The council selects candidates through a thorough evaluation by the member unions. The candidates were judged based on his/her understanding the needs of middle-class families promotion of pro-worker policies, support for responsible fiscal reforms.

The State Building & Construction Trades Council is comprised of 13 county councils, 15 affiliated international unions: Boilermakers, Bricklayers, Carpenters, Electricians, Elevator Constructors, Finishing Trades (Painters, Glaziers, and Drywall Finishers), Insulators, Iron Workers, Laborers, Operating Engineers, Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons, Pipe Trades (Plumbers and Pipefitters, Sprinkler Fitters, HVAC Service Technicians), Roofers, Sheet Metal Workers, Teamsters. The more than 125 local unions represents some 150,000 building trades members in New Jersey.
