Ex-Port Authority Chairman's Law Firm Drops County as Client Amid GWB Scandal

The law firm headed by ex-Port Authority Chairman David Samson is no longer representing Bergen County in an ongoing lawsuit. NorthJersey.com reported that the West Orange law firm, Wolff & Samson, dropped the county as a client after the Freeholder Board demanded last month that Samson step down from his post in the wake of the George Washington Bridge scandal.

According to the report, the firm recently informed the county that it would no longer be representing Bergen and the Bergen County Improvement Authority in their lawsuit against the Bergen Regional Medical Center. 

In the ongoing case, the county is seeking Medicare reimbursements and documents that could shed light on what will happen when BCMC’s lease expires in 2017, the report said. The firm said the recent freeholder actions regarding Samson created a conflict of interest, the report said.

On March 4, the freeholders wrote a letter calling for Samson to quit or be fired, reports say. Last week, Samson reportedly resigned from the position after various other conflict of interest allegations.

Samson’s firm was not representing the county in any other suits, the report said. The freeholders have replaced the firm with Archer Greiner, it said.
