{UPDATE} Autopsy Results For Fort Lee Doctor Released: Cause Of Death Is Suicide

Seven-year-old daughter reported in stable condition after surgery

UPDATE 12p.m.: The Rockland County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled that Fort Lee Podiatrist Victoria Vovchik's death on Thursday was a suicide. The Medical Examiner's report released Friday stated, "She died as a result of two self-inflicted incised wounds of her neck. She had no other bodily injuries."

Toxicology tests for drugs and alcohol are being conducted and results will take several weeks. 

Clakstown School District officials are holding closed meetings with Woodglen Elementary School parents and staff today. Vovchik's daughter, who suffered numerous lacerations on Thursday, is a student at Woodglen.

The Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office says that the autopsy results for Dr. Victoria Vovchik, 45, may be released this afternoon. Vovchik’s body was found in her 6 Quarry Drive home on Thursday afternoon near that of her seven-year-old daughter who had been stabbed numerous times. The daughter, a student at Woodglen Elementary School, was taken to Westchester Medical Center and is reported in stable condition.

Dr. Kristappa Sangavaram, 69, discovered the bodies in the master bedroom and called police just after 1 p.m. Vovchik’s body also had lacerations. Clarkstown Police Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni said when police arrived the three people in the house were Vovchik, her daughter and Sangavaram. Vovchik was a podiatrist with a practice in Fort Lee, NJ.
