Bergen Boulevard Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges

Two Fairview men were arrested and charged with possession.

Cops arrested two Fairview men Tuesday after a traffic stop, allegedly confiscating heroin, drug paraphernalia and a complete set of 1987 Topps baseball cards from their vehicle.

Detective Timothy Cullen of the Fort Lee Narcotics Unit stopped a Ford Mustang on Bergen Boulevard just after noon for speeding and spotted a syringe on the floor of the vehicle, police said.

Cops said they found three glassine envelopes of suspected heroin on the driver, Derik Morin, 32, and 17 glassine envelopes of suspected heroin on the passenger, Paul Bussanich, 25.

Both men gave police conflicting stories about their travels to New York City when questioned individually, cops said.

A search of the vehicle also turned up a complete set of 1987 Topps baseball cards.

"Neither male could provide a reasonable explanation as to how they came in possession of the cards so they were seized pending further investigation," Captain Thomas Ottina said.

Morin and Bussanich were each charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Morin was also issued two motor vehicle summonses.

Judge Matthew Fierro set bail at $5,000 for Morin and $7,500 for Bussinach. Morin posted bail, but Bussinach remained in the Bergen County Jail.
