Police Blotter: Man Charged With Marijuana Distribution, 2 With Drug Possession During Traffic Stop

A weekly look at police activity compiled from information provided by the Fort Lee Police Department.

Fort Lee Police said they arrested a Cliffside Park man March 4, charging him with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and distribution.

Arresting officer Sgt. Leonard Cottrell and three other officers arrested 28-year-old Jose Zuluaga on Palisade Ave. and Westview Ave.

Zuluaga was released from police custody on $2,500 bail the following day, according to the arrest report.

On March 5, Fort Lee police arrested two men during a traffic stop, charging them with possession of prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Arresting officer Det. Edward Young pulled over 44-year-old George Ford Jr. and 39-year-old Adam Montecavlo, both of Woodbridge, NJ, at 1327 16th St., although the initial offense of an unsafe lane change and obstructed window view occurred at Route 4 West and Route 95 South. Police charged Ford Jr. with the additional traffic violations and Montecavlo with the possession charges.

Both men were turned over to the Bergen County Jail, where they were held in lieu of $10,000 bail and released on March 6.

Other notable Fort Lee Police arrests this week:

  • Javier Columbine, 31, of Cliffside Park, was charged with civil contempt, an unsafe lane change and driving with a suspended license Tuesday. The offense occurred at Bilger St. and Central Ave. Columbine’s case was assigned to Hudson County Court. No court date has been set.
  • Valery Waich, 28, of Fort Lee, was charged with contempt of court, failure to exhibit documents, driving with a suspended license and improper passing on Lemoine Ave. Fort Lee Police arrested Waich on those charges March 4 at the Fort Lee Police Department and released him on $120 bail the same day. Waich’s case was assigned to Englewood Municipal Court, and no court date has been set.
