Four PAPD Officers Injured by Suspected Drunk Driver in Fort Lee

The four officers had pulled over another suspected drunk driver on I-95 when they were struck from behind on the shoulder of the southbound express lane

Four Port Authority police officers were injured early Monday morning after being hit by a suspected drunk driver on I-95 near the George Washington Bridge while they were conducting a separate stop of another suspected drunk driver, according to a Port Authority spokesman.

Steve Coleman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said all four officers were treated for neck and back injuries and released from Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Monday after a car driven by Omar Roach, 40, allegedly collided with one of the officers’ cars from behind, setting off a “chain reaction,” which sent the first police car into two other Port Authority police cars—all parked on the shoulder.

Coleman said both drivers were charged with DWI, however the name of the driver who had already been pulled over when the accident occurred was not available Tuesday, nor was it known if additional charges were filed against Roach.
