The annual memorial service at Fort Lee's Police Memorial Square is held in remembrance of officers William T. Birch and Kevin Greener and also honors past officers who have died since serving Fort Lee.

The Fort Lee PBA held its annual memorial service Saturday to remember the two Fort Lee police officers killed in the line of duty.

Police Officer William T. Birch was shot and killed on Sept. 4, 1966 while responding to a holdup at a hotel on Route 4, and Police Officer Kevin Greener was killed in a motorcycle accident on Aug. 9, 1999, according to information provided by Kevin Kosuda of the and the Fort Lee PBA.

“We also remember all officers before us that have served the Borough of Fort Lee and have since passed away,” Kosuda said in an email.
