Fairview Man Dies Following Crash over Edgewater Cliff

A 37-year-old Fairview man died Saturday morning after a car crash along Gorge Road

Early Saturday morning, Edgewater Police were called to the Aventine Apartment Complex on Thompson Lane at 2:41am for a reported vehicle accident on Gorge Road.

According to Edgewater Lt. Donald Martin, a 37-year-old Fairview man drove his 2006 GMC SUV off the road and down the cliff before it stopped before on the rear patio of an occupied apartment.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:16am by paramedics from Englewood Hospital. At this time, police are not releasing any information about the driver until family notifications have been made.

The accident is currently uner investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Fatal Accident Unit, Edgewater Police and the County Medical Examiners Office.
