Brothers Planned to Sell Pot Near Fort Lee High School, Cops Say

Alex and Christian Hernandez, 23 and 35, were arrested on multiple drug-related charges.

Fort Lee Police arrested a pair of brothers Friday after finding three pounds of marijuana inside the basement of their Wilson Avenue home, Capt. Thomas Ottina said.

Det. Cory Horton, of the Fort Lee Narcotics Unit, first eyed Alex Hernandez, 23, leaving the suspicious vehicle around 1:30 p.m. on Friday and entering the basement of an apartment on Wilson Avenue; when he returned he was holding two white plastic bags, Ottina said.

The vehicle drove off and Fort Lee Police followed, stopping it soon thereafter. Upon searching the vehicle, cops said they discovered two ounces of pot in the bags, and arrested Alex.

According to Ottina, narcotics detectives then returned to the basement apartment and discovered three pounds of marijuana, bagging materials, a digital scale and more than $2,000 cash.

Christian Hernandez, the apartment's 35-year-old occupant, was arrested by Fort Lee police. Both men were charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, intent to distribute within 1000 feet of the high school, and intent to distribute within 500 feet of Gallo Park.
