Pearls of Wisdom

After an exhausting week of crisis, some normality has finally arrived. On Monday afternoon, we were notified that Fort Lee High School now has power and there will be school this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

I will try to keep updating everyone. Please follow me on www.twitter.com at pearlsofwisdm14. I have been attempting to keep communication lines open with school officials in order to access frequent updates.   

We have a major league election tomorrow. The future of our country is at stake in a tight presidential race. The future of Fort Lee is in the hands of the local voters. Everyone is predicting a small turnout as a result of the aftermath of “Sandy”.  

I hope that the prognosticators of Doom are wrong. We need EVERY REGISTERED VOTER to cast a ballot, with special focus locally on the Board of Education candidates. 

We need a BOE that will work together, that will enact changes to benefit our students. This new Board will have to address the influx of students from the Centuria project that will create a major overcrowding crisis in our classrooms.  The Board will have to cope with budget cuts that will curtail special programs.   Finally, the Fort Lee school system is declining in State evaluations and this decline needs to be reversed. 

Polling booths in Fort Lee will be open at the standard locations, no changes.

Some of us may not have power in our homes yet, but all of us have the power to make Fort Lee a better community.
