Gilda’s Club NNJ Hosts “Coping with the Holidays” Support Series

Gilda’s Club Northern New Jersey will host a free, three-part support group for those who have lost a loved one to cancer. Participants will receive mutual support, while gaining new tools to cope with their loss.

First Session:
Come talk to others who are facing the holidays while dealing with the loss of a loved one to cancer.  Share challenges and emotions while gaining support and discussing coping tools and strategies to guide you through your journey.

Second Session: Susan Bruce, Guided Imagery and Meditation teacher and facilitator, will gently lead the group in an inner journey honoring a precious holiday memory with our loved ones. This experience will be interwoven with centered relaxation in a safe and supported environment.

Third Session: Erika Leeuwenburgh, licensed professional counselor and board certified art therapist, will facilitate a bereavement group which integrates the use of art. This group experience will provide sculpting hearts out of model magic (a neat and clean modeling compound) offering a playful and calming means of self expression. Participants are encouraged to bring small and meaningful items related to their deceased loved one which will be included in their own personal heart and a larger group memorial heart to be left at Gilda’s Club.

Preregistration is mandatory. To register, contact Carley Tsaglos at 201-457-1670 or carleyt@gildasclubnnj.org. More information is available at www.gildasclubnnj.org.
