Reenactment of General George Washington's 1776 Retreat to Victory

Join the Borough of Fort Lee and
Palisade Interstate Park for the 237th anniversary of General Washington's
Retreat to Victory in Fort Lee.  The Brigade of the American Revolution
reenactors will exit Fort Lee Historic Park on Hudson Terrace and Bruce
Reynolds Blvd at 11:30 AM on Saturday, November 23rd.  You can park your
car at the Fort Lee Historic Park and join the march on the same path General
Washington and his 2,000 troops took in November of 1776 to escape British
capture.  The march wiil head up Main Street and this year include the
unveiling of four permanent Retreat Route Markers along the Retreat Route on
Main Street provided via donations and constructed by the Borough of Fort Lee.
 The march will conclude at nearby Monument Park on Palisade Avenue with a
short ceremony to include a musket fire salute and a wreath laying at the
Monument to the soldiers of Washington’s Army by the Fort Lee VFW.  Fort
Lee Mayor Sokolich will be our keynote speaker.  After the program the
Fort Lee Historical Society will provide free hot cider and donuts at the
adjacent Fort Lee Museum.  This living history program continues all day
Saturday November 23rd and Sunday November 24th at the Fort Lee Historic Park.
